Summer Literacy Program Tutor

(Job Bank Title: Tutor - Elementary School Subjects)

This summer position will consist of 8 weeks of full-time work (Mon – Fri) at the Stuart MacPherson Public Library, including day and evening work. The anticipated start date for these positions is June 23 rd, 2025. The successful candidate must have their own vehicle or reliable transportation to work.

Duties include but are not limited to;

• Creation of individualized lesson plans

• One-on-one tutoring with K-5 th Grade students

• Promotion of literacy

• Creating reports showing individual child’s growth / improvements

• Liaise with Programming Coordinator and develop tutoring schedules.

• Meet and handle deadlines effectively.

• Work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Demonstrated effective team membership skills, including problem solving,

conflict resolution and fostering a positive work environment.

• Effective communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills.

Successful candidates should have strong computer, organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to work efficiently with Microsoft Office, Internet, and basic database systems. Other requirements: candidate must be currently enrolled and returning to school in the Fall.
