As they continue to grow, Rockwell is seeking a motivated and skilled Fiber Optic Cable Splicer to join their team. Experience is preferred but not a show stopper, as we offer on-the-job training.
This role is based out of Glendon AB and involves both local and non-local work in the Oilfield, Utility, Government, and Commercial sectors across Western Canada. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-standing specialty trade with great pay and benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fiber optic cable splicing and installations.
- Work with various tools and equipment to splice fiber optic cables, ensuring proper connections and minimal signal loss.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose fiber optic cable issues, including testing and verifying signal performance.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure all work is completed in compliance with industry standards and company guidelines.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing fiber optic systems.
Qualifications:
- Technical certifications or training in telecommunications, fiber optics, electrical trades, or a combination of training and experience in fiber optic splicing and related technologies is an asset (not required – we offer training.)
- Possession of safety tickets (e.g., First Aid, Confined Space, H2S) is an asset.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
Requirements:
- Ability to pass pre-employment and subsequent pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
- Criminal Record Check is required.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, as required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in various weather condition.
- Ability to work long hours or irregular schedules, as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Must be permitted to work in Canada.
·Candidates must be willing to relocate or reasonably commute to Glendon AB office at the start of day.
