Stepping Stones Crisis Society (SSCS) is seeking an Indigenous Program Coordinator to lead the Pathways: Healing and Prosperity program, which integrates traditional Indigenous healing strategies guided by the Seven Sacred Teachings with career exploration and development opportunities. This role will be responsible for program development, facilitation, and internal Indigenous cultural strengthening within SSCS.
The Indigenous Program Coordinator will work closely with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners to ensure a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and empowering program for Indigenous women, Indigenous women, girls (MMIWG) and Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (2SLGBTQI+) people.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and facilitation of the Pathways: Healing and Prosperity program.
- Integrate the Seven Sacred Teachings (Love, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility, and Truth) into program curriculum and activities.
- Coordinate healing-focused workshops, ceremonies, and reflection circles in collaboration with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
- Develop and facilitate career exploration opportunities, including workshops and networking sessions with industry professionals.
- Serve as a cultural resource within SSCS, providing guidance on Indigenous cultural protocols and practices.
- Foster partnerships with Indigenous community leaders, Elders, and organizations to enhance impact.
- Support SSCS in integrating Indigenous perspectives into policies, training, and service delivery.
- Develop and implement strategies to strengthen internal Indigenous cultural competency within the organization.
- Maintain accurate participant records, attendance tracking, and progress reports.
Education
- Diploma or Degree in a related field such as Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Education, Community Development, Counselling, or Cultural Studies; OR
- Equivalent combination of education, lived experience, and work experience in Indigenous community work, facilitation, or program coordination.
- Training or certification in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, cultural competency, or community engagement.
Experience and Skills
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and healing practices, particularly the Seven Sacred Teachings.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and supporting survivors of violence or individuals facing systemic barriers.
- Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences in a respectful and inclusive manner.
- Experience in program coordination, community engagement, or education.
- Experience working with and ability to develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous Organizations.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and culturally safe service delivery.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Lived experience as an Indigenous person with direct knowledge of community needs and traditional healing practices.
- Experience in employment readiness, mentorship programs, or career development initiatives
