Stepping Stones Crisis Society is seeking a Family Support Worker to join their team in Cold Lake. This is a full-time position and offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.The Family Support Worker is responsible for providing individualized support services to clients and families residing in the Second Stage Housing Program. In this role you will facilitate individual sessions and assist and empower clients to recognize options and utilize their opportunities to move toward healthy and stable futures.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide advocacy, referrals, resources, information, support, and case-management
- Perform initial assessments and orientations
- Transport clients when necessary for appointments and educate about Public Transportation Systems
- Assist in the coordination and participate in weekly case conferences, group or individual sessions, and client meetings
- Maintain professional boundaries with clients and exercise sound judgement to balance empowering independent living with the needs of each individual client
- Respond to requests for crisis intervention, community information, referral and general information for residential clients
- Collaborate with Clinician, Outreach, Child and Youth Support, or other members of the Stepping Stones team
- Ensure clients have the tools, referrals and skills that they will require at the end of the program to live independently in the community
Qualifications:
- Registered Social Worker (Degree) or post-secondary education in a related field
- 2-3 years’ experience and/or working knowledge of the dynamics of family and domestic violence, addictions, suicide and other social issues
- Ability to relate to clients in a non-judgmental manner, and to respect client confidentiality
- Experience in handling emergency situations, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention
- Experience in completing assessments/intake, case planning/management and intervention
- Strong organizational and time-management skills and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and computer skills
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment. Ability to work alone
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check
- Standard First Aid/CPR, ASIST Certification, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license free from restrictions with acceptable driver’s abstract
